consisting of city and county leaders, to work together to renew efforts
and strengthen the community's commitment to reduce gun violence.
*	Since late 2011, Mayor Bell and members of VCRR have been
meeting to develop ongoing strategies to reduce violent crime -
including revisiting bond guidelines for violent crime offenders;
improving communications and coordination between law enforcement, the
District Attorney's Office and judges; enhancing Police Department and
Sheriff's Office outreach to the community and in target areas; and
building stronger community engagement efforts.
*	Participants of the VCRR are, in addition to the presenters
above, County Commissioner Chair Michael Page, District Attorney Leon
Stanback, Chief Magistrate Donald Paschall, Chief District Court Judge
Marcia Morey, Clerk of Court Archie Smith, East Durham Children's
Initiative Chair and CEO Barker French and David Reese, County Manager
Mike Ruffin and City Manager Tom Bonfield.
*	Format: Refreshments start at 6:30. The program will begin at
7 p.m., with presentations by Mayor Bell, Chief Lopez and Sheriff
