[Durham INC] Postal Service delivery method swtich attempt

Chloe,

Thank you for alerting INC about this. I will attempt to contact the
Postmaster and the East Durham station manager about this. My first
reaction is that this is probably an unauthorized attempt on the part of a
letter carrier to get customers to change their way of receiving mail. The
letters that used to be sent out were at least on USPS letterhead. This
unsigned letter is on plain paper. I would also note that it does not
actually say the person *must* change, it just says they "will be asked"
to change. The line about a 10 day "abatement period" is, therefore,
meaningless. East Durham residents should ignore these letters, but do
report them to INC. I would also encourage them to call the East Durham
Station Manager and report the letters.

I would also ask anyone representing INC to respond in a civil manner to
problems with any government service. Explain the problem, and give the
official an opportunity to respond. Insulting language is not likely to
help, particularly if the official in question did not cause the problem in
the first place.
