I disagree with you here, Darius.
The 751 South developers and developers of other projects have argued that their runoff pollution is a drop in the bucket compared to the pollution caused by Durham sewer leaks. At the end of the day, we need to fix both.

 A tax increase now, to provide better oversight and maintenance of sewer lines, will save Durham taxpayers more money in the long run -- when we fail to live up to the Clean Water Act and Jordan Lake requirements.

John,

I agree with your assessment.  The situation is rather simple, however:  Citizenship must be willing to invest into our Infrastructure.

This means: "tax increase."

Unless you want to use the Republican method of shrinking government via finding, cutting and capping financial waste, we as Citizens must be willing to accept the stewardship of our City Leadership.

The response from staff, while not to your liking, completely fulfilled your request:

1. It identified the date of installation, as well as the material;

2. It was CCTV'd, which means they did "see" the sewer system.  And evidently, there was nothing that needed immediate repair at that time, or such recommendation would have been made by staff, to the Manager; at which point the Manager would have brought it to the Council.  At this point, we the Citizens would have had a public hearing.

I think this is being overly analyzed.
