About: Durham County Library hosts Attorney Rupe Gill as he discusses the merits of estate planning. The program takes place on Thursday, September 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Southwest Regional Library, 3605 Shannon Rd. After Gill's presentation, a Q & A session will follow.
Gill shares that contrary to popular belief, estate planning is not solely for the wealthy or retiring seniors. In recent years, the planning of one's estate has become an essential "rite of passage" for adults of all ages. Components of a good estate planning process include an inventory of assets, a will<http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/money101/lesson21/index2.htm>, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and in many instances, a living will or health-care proxy<http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/money101/lesson21/index3.htm>. In specific cases, the establishment of a trust<http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/money101/lesson21/index5.htm> may also be warranted. Estate planning, when done properly, ensures that a family's financial goals are met when difficult life transitions occur. Gill will discuss these issues and more.

Gill is a local attorney with more than 17 years of legal experience who works for the law firm, Walker Lambe Rhudy Costley & Gill, PLLC. Specializing in Estate Planning and Elder Law, he assists individuals in planning for long-term care and complex health issues.
