Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern Visits Durham County Library to Discuss All-Female Rendition of Richard II

Program: Pigs in the Library: Richie
Date: Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St.
Cost: Free and open to the public

About: Members of the Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern will visit Durham County Library to discuss their upcoming, all-female adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard II, directed by Jay O'Berski. The discussion, led by Little Green Pig cast members - Dana Marks as "Richie," Tamara Kissane as "Haley," Jane Holding as "Marr-Gaunt," Susannah Hough as "Langley" and Lakeisha Coffey as "Tina" - will take place on Tuesday, September 18, at 7 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St.

This adaptation of Shakespeare's poetic tragedy Richard II features 20 actresses. Although the play's fictitious setting is the Cannes Film Festival, in reality the play is staged as an interactive pub crawl from Rigsbee Avenue to Durham Central Park that sweeps the audience along in a rollicking all-female promenade. Richie is a party girl wreaking havoc at the festival when her spurned cousin Haley seeks the throne. This rendition promises to expose an unfortunate train of events during each performance with characters resembling Lindsay Lohan, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears and Rihanna.

This program is made possible by funding from Durham Library Foundation. For more information, contact Joanne Abel at 919-560-0268.
