Durham Hosts Essentials to Government Contracting Panel Discussion

Free Opportunity for Small Businesses Interested in Doing Business with
Federal, State and Local Governments

*         This panel discussion is designed to help small businesses
owners understand how to win government contracts and work with federal,
state and local governments. 

 

*         Subjects to be covered include: explanation of the purchasing
process; key differences in government vs. commercial contracting; how
the government buys: its procurement methods; executing central
contractor registration and other vendor registrations; conducting
market research, finding opportunities, and establishing relationships;
reading and understanding a bid solicitation; reviewing and finalizing
your bid or proposal; researching federal specifications and standards;
and identifying and participating in Internet and other electronic
procurement opportunities.

 

*         Panelists include representatives from federal, state and
local agencies including the U.S. Small Business Administration's N.C.
Small Business Technology and Development Center Procurement Technical
Assistance Center, N.C. Department of Administration Division of
Purchase and Contract, and Durham County Government. 

 

*         The cost to attend the panel discussion is free. However,
seating is limited, so interested attendees should reserve their spot by
September 25 by emailing SmallBusinessAdvisory at DurhamNC.gov.
