The definition of a megachurch from the Hartford Institute for Religion Research:

"The term megachurch generally refers to any Protestant congregation with a sustained average weekly attendance of 2000 persons or more in its worship services."

I first looked this up when a group of constituents opposing a proposed 174-"cottage" student housing development (something being proposed monthly within about 3 miles of the UNC campus) brought in as an issue the traffic from what they called "the new megachurch" down the road. The permit showed that church has a maximum of 278 seats, not a megachurch. If the church on Massey Chapel Road met the definition of a megachurch, we'd know that by now.

Isn't this a Board of Adjustment case?

The immediate neighbors request that anyone with any interest please attend in order to pack the room and get their voices heard. This meeting is very important to their efforts to stop this tower and future towers near residential areas. The media will be there to hear the residents/neighbors' side of the story. One neighbor has told me, "The leaders of the church have told their side which is very misleading."
