27 Views of Durham is an anthology of the city known for tobacco, diversity, sports and grit. It is the fourth book in Eno Publishers' 27 Views series that features the literary communities of contemporary Southern towns. The prior books in the series were the award-winning 27 Views of Hillsborough, followed by 27 Views of Chapel Hill and 27 Views of Asheville.
The event will feature historian Jean Bradley Anderson reading "Remembering A Town Father," award-winning filmmaker and producer Rodrigo Dorman reading "El Nuevo South," Whatever Happened to Jacy Farrow author Ceil Cleveland reading "Watermark," playwright and sportswriter Adam Sobsey reading "Home Again," Farm Fresh Carolina author Diane Daniel reading "Where Durham Works Out" and musician Pierce Freelon reading "Born and Raised." Rebecca Newton, joined by Jack Herrick of the Red Clay Ramblers and Bob Vasile of the Pratie Heads, will lead the audience in her original song "One Square Mile: A Durham Anthem."
This event is sponsored by Durham Library Foundation and co-sponsored by the Carolina Theatre. For more information, contact Joanne Abel at 919-560-0268.
