As you have probably heard too many times, early voting begins today. For today, tomorrow and Saturday, you can vote from 9AM to 5:30 PM at any of the locations below.
A couple notes:They are being really serious about no cell phones or other electronic devices in the voting places. If you need a list of candidates you want to vote for, make a paper copy to bring into the voting booth with you.If your name on the voting rolls doesn't match your name on your driver's license or social security records, going to early voting is a good chance to get this fixed just in case someone decides we need to do some massive cleaning up of the rolls.Given the hysteria about dead people still on the rolls, I am including this link to the form for indicating a voter has died: http://www.durhamcountync.gov/departments/elec/Forms_and_Documents.htmlWe all have favorite places to find out about candidates, but a couple non-partisan ones are:http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/03/29/1967716/2012-voters-guide.html
UNC-TV: http://www.ncvoterguide.orgTo find out whether you are registered and see your sample ballot, go to https://www.ncsbe.gov/VoterLookup.aspx?Feature=voterinfo and enter your name.
 The seven locations:
Site 1 - Downtown Durham Museum of Durham History 501 W. Main Street (Old DATA Bus Depot)(moved from the Board of Elections!) Site 2- North Regional Location North Regional Library 221 Milton RoadSite 3- South Regional Location South Regional Library 4505 S. Alston AvenueSite 4 - East Regional Location East Regional Library 211 Lick Creek LaneSite 5 - Southwest Regional Location Githens Middle School4800 Old Chapel Hill Road(New location)Sites 6 & 7- Campus University Locations Duke University, Trinity Room, West Campus(free parking in front of chapel)North Carolina Central University, Student Union NCCU Campus For the first time in history, the Downtown Durham location for early voting will not be at the BOE Headquarters. The new Downtown Durham location, the Museum of Durham History, is more spacious than the long-time downtown voting location and also offers better parking. Additionally, the building offers voters with accessibility needs more space inside and outside the voting location. I actually recommend voting the next week -- after the gung-ho types are done and before the procrastinators.
