Thru workplace payroll deduction, I contribute to these organizations:

  United Way of the Greater Triangle

  EarthShare North Carolina
  http://www.earthsharenc.org/

Each supports / contributes to multiple organizations, which are 
listed on their websites.  The first two are more social welfare 
oriented.  The latter focuses on environmental issues.  They accept 
direct donations, too.  Give it up!  :)
