Neighborhood Meeting Set for Angier-Driver Streetscape Construction

Community Meeting to Discuss Final Plans and Construction Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. - With construction set to begin in April, those interested
in the final design and construction plans for the Angier-Driver
Streetscape Project should mark their calendars now to get the latest
information on the project and provide input directly to City of Durham
staff.

On Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the City's
Office of Economic and Workforce Development and the Public Works
Department are hosting a neighborhood meeting to review the construction
plans and schedule for the Angier-Driver Streetscape Project. City staff
will be on hand to discuss the project beginning at 5 p.m. with the
formal presentation starting at approximately 5:30 p.m. The meeting will
be held at Angier Avenue Baptist Church, located at 2101 Angier Ave.

The project, funded by 2005 bond funds, neighborhood revitalization
funds, and capital improvement project funds provides for new pavement,
curb and gutter, sidewalks, landscaping, underground and overhead
utilities, and street lights in a streetscape design similar to downtown
Durham. The project limits extend from the intersection of Angier Avenue
and Driver Street east along Angier Avenue to Briggs Avenue, and include
Driver Street north to Ashe Street. Construction will begin in April
2013 and the project is expected to be complete in October 2014. The
final design concept can be viewed on the City's website at
http://durhamnc.gov/ich/cb/oewd/Documents/Angier%20Driver%20Color%20Rend
erings%20092012.pdf.
