If you are interested in this kind of thing, there's quite a bit of detail on the requirements we have to meet and how the models work.  If you aren't so interested, the bottom line is that the targets have gotten tougher, but our plans show we can meet them.  Not that anyone should take that as permission to be stupid about how much air pollution their transportation choices create (-:

A Public Comment Period on Transportation Air Quality Conformity Why did I get this email?The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) is inviting all citizens to review and comment on the regional air quality repot.  You have participated in past MPO events and the MPO welcomes your continued involvement. What is Air Quality Conformity?The DCHC MPO programs state and federal transportation projects in our region.  The MPO has published an air quality report that demonstrates that the future emissions from the transportation sector are below the limits set in a state plan.  The public comment period will be from Thursday, April 4, 2013 through Friday, May 3, 2013. How can I participate?There are several options for participating, including: www.dchcmpo.org -- Web site provides: §  A copy of the air quality report – See the “MPO Releases Final Long-Range Plan and Air Quality Reports” Web page or use this link:http://www.dchcmpo.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=97&Itemid=35§  An email and postal address for making comments.  Public Hearing – Citizens can provide feedback to local elected officials (Transportation Advisory Committee); Wednesday, April 10, at 9:00AM in the Committee Room (2nd Floor of Durham City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza).
