This may interest those who must buy organic foods.  We have 2 children with disabilities and we have to buy organic and all natural foods.

2005 Frankenfood Legislation Comes Back From the Dead
Take Action: Protect organic farming in North Carolina!

The NC Department of Agriculture recently revived a bill from 2005 that threatens organic agriculture and small farmers in North Carolina.
Contact Commissioner of Agriculture Troxler to speak up on behalf of organic farming in North Carolina today!
House Bill 379, An Act To Clarify The Authority Of The Board Of Agriculture Over Plants, sounds innocuous enough. But if enacted, House Ag Committee Chair Langdon's bill would launch an offensive on anyone who grows a crop in North Carolina without a corporate patent on it.
In 2005, a nearly identical bill, Regulation of Genetically Altered Plants, was filed on behalf of the NC Department of Agriculture. Like its undead counterpart, H 379 would prevent local governments from taking steps to restrict the sale or cultivation of any plant in NC. That authority would be reserved solely for the NC Board of Agriculture.
How does this bill threaten organic farmers?
H 379 would further concentrate corporate control over food and farming and removes authority from local governments to prevent sale and cultivation of plants.
It could even prevent local governments from enacting notification policies to protect organic farmers from genetic contamination, according to the Center for Rural Affairs.
This bill was designed to benefit the corporate giants who sell Frankenfoods, but seems to give little thought to North Carolina’s aspiring small farmers.
Contact Commissioner of Agriculture Troxler to speak up on behalf of organic farming in North Carolina today!
