Durham County Library Hosts Peeps Show 2013

DURHAM - Peeps, the marshmallow springtime treats, are no longer available in stores, but they are making their annual appearance at Durham County Library. In the third annual Durham County Library Peeps Show, staff members have created dioramas using sugar covered bunnies and chicks to highlight the programs, services, activities and materials available at the library. The Library Peeps Show will be on display all day Friday and Saturday, May 10-11 in the entrance of the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro Street. Library patrons and peep fans will determine the winning peep-o-rama by voting for their favorites in person during the display or online (at durhamcountylibrary.org/peeps) through Tuesday, May 14. The winner will be announced online on Thursday, May 16.

The seven entries in DCL's 2013 Peeps Show include angry peeps, a cameo from Alfred Hitchcock and his feathered friends, giant superhero peeps, the Blue Monster wall from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, a peep fairy garden, an homage to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and a kitty-peep poet with a typewriter.

"Library staff members are very creative," said Gina Rozier, marketing and development division manager. "The peep-o-ramas highlight that creativity and bring attention to our collection and the wide variety of things to do in the library in a fun and engaging way."

Angry Peeps
The library's hard-working Technology Management Unit would never be caught playing games on the job. However, it looks like "Angry Peeps" have invaded. Using Styrofoam, cardboard, construction paper, fishing line, raffia, peeps of all shapes and sizes, lots of glue and some googly eyes the Tech Management team came up with their version of Angry Birds - "ANGRY PEEPS."
Justice League Peeps
East Regional and the Main Library worked together to create the Justice League Peeps display because so many of the children and adult patrons really love the graphic novel collection. Materials used include cardboard, card stock paper, clip art, large bunny peeps, a glue gun, Elmer's glue, construction paper and markers.
