New "City Hall This Week" Begins May 17

Police Dept. Seeks Input on New Headquarters Site; Rock the Park Series
Begins

 

DTV8's "City Hall This Week" will debut a new show tonight at 8 p.m.
Hosted by Senior Public Affairs Specialist Amy Blalock, this show will
feature the following highlights and other topics of interest. You can

Police Department Receives Feedback on Potential Headquarters Site

The police department is narrowing its choices for the location of its
new headquarters and annex. Community forums were held on May 14 and May
16 to receive feedback on two potential sites. One of the sites is
located in the 1000 block of Fayetteville Street and the second site is
located in the 600 block of East Main Street. William Gascoigne, senior
program m with the Durham Police Department, explains why the potential
sites are being considered.

 

Police Department Holds Annual Awards Ceremony

The police department has honored some of its own and members of the
community. The department's annual awards ceremony was held on May 9.
Purple Hearts, Certificates of Merit, Distinguished Service Medals, and
Community Service Awards were given to 33 people from the department and
the community.

 

National Night Out Registration is Open

Durham neighborhoods interested in taking part in this year's National
Night Out events can now register through the police department.
National Night Out will be observed on Tuesday, August 6. Neighborhood
coordinators must register their events with the police department to be
included in police department promotions. Online registration can be
completed at www.durhampolice.com. The registration deadline is July 8.

 

Rock the Park Concert Series Kicks Off the Summer

The Rock the Park Concert Series is ready to kick off the summer. The
summer series includes concerts and movies and is held at a different
park every week. Concerts are held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and movies are
held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Both activities are free and open to the
