New "City Hall This Week" Begins August 16
Angier Avenue Detour Impacts Drivers; Chapel Hill Street Parking Garage Construction Underway

Durham Marks Milestone for Crimestoppers and National Night Out
Durham recently marked a milestone for two important crime fighting initiatives. The 30th year of America's Night Out Against Crime and Durham Crimestoppers was marked last week. The kickoff event for the City's National Night Out celebration was held in the Southside neighborhood.

Angier Avenue Detour to Impact Drivers Over Next Several Months
A major construction project along Angier Avenue will have a significant impact on drivers traveling through the area over the next several months. A detour plan that went into effect on August 1 allows for one-way traffic in the west-bound lanes of Angier Avenue between Briggs and Driver Street. The east-bound detour is clearly marked with signs along the way. The detour will be in place for three to five months. When it is complete, a second detour will be put into place for Driver Street.

Construction Underway on Chapel Hill Street Parking Garage and Surface Lot
Construction is underway on the Chapel Hill Street Parking Garage and Surface Lot. The project is expected to take five months and will cause both monthly and hourly parking to be moved to other City garages and lots. Concrete deterioration in the ramps, floors, columns and beams in the garage and the surface lot to meet ADA standards. The project is expected to be complete by January.

Annual Latino Festival to Be Held on September 28
The City's annual Latino Festival will be held on Saturday, September 28 at Rock Quarry Park from noon until 5 p.m. The festival features live music; authentic foods; arts and crafts; and information about health, education, and employment opportunities.
