New "City Hall This Week" Begins August 30
Downtown Pay Stations to Offer More Convenience; Sparky's Wish List Donations Needed

DTV8's "City Hall This Week" will debut a new show tonight at 8 p.m. Hosted by Senior Public Affairs Specialist Amy Blalock, this show will feature the following highlights and other topics of interest. You can also watch this new episode on demand at http://www.YouTube.com/CityofDurhamNC.

Digital Pay Stations to Give Downtown Drivers More Convenient Payment Options
Digital pay stations will soon give drivers more convenient payment options at two downtown City-owned parking lots. The pay stations will be installed in City Surface Lot 14, which is located on West Morgan Street, and in City Surface Lot 8, which is located on Parrish Street. Transportation Department Assistant Director Harmon Crutchfield explains how the pay stations will work and why they're expected to benefit both drivers and the City overall.

Durham Fire Department Asks for Donations through Sparky's Wish List
The Durham Fire Department is asking for help once again in its efforts to educate all residents through life-saving fire safety materials. For the second year in a row, Durham residents are invited to donate to the department online through Sparky's Wish List. The materials purchased for the department through the list will help firefighters provide fire prevention education outreach throughout the year. Donations can be made at http://www.SparkysWishlist.org.

Habitat for Humanity Kicks Off Latest Partnership with Local Government Volunteers
Employees with the City and County of Durham are partnering once again with Habitat for Humanity. A kick-off celebration was held on August 17 at 504 N. Hyde Park Avenue for the latest home that local government volunteers will help build. More information about this, and other Habitat projects, is available at http://www.DurhamHabitat.org.

City's Strategic Plan Progress Report Now Available
The City's fifth Strategic Plan Progress Report is now available. It offers an update on how Durham is achieving its goals and initiatives. As the City's business plan, the Strategic Plan establishes priorities and objectives and then defines actions and activities that will support those priorities. The progress report includes a green check mark next to completed initiatives. It is updated every February and August and is available at http://www.DurhamNC.gov/StrategicPlan/Goals.
