[Durham INC] City Council vote on Unipole Tower Amendment

INC members: 

At their December 1st  meeting, City Council voted against the proposed Unipole (slick stick) UDO Amendment TC1400004 (agenda item #16).  I heard Council members questions:  Why push to change the UDO for one kind of cell tower when a comprehensive UDO wireless change is pending passage?   Council rejected changing the UDO piecemeal, indicating they’ll wait for the wireless regulations planning, neighborhoods, and industry have been working on.  Senior Planner Michael Stock told officials and the public that neighborhoods and industry would be again meeting with planning in finalizing the wireless ordinance after staff’s review of compatibility between the  text of Amendment TC1200013 and wireless policies and new regulations in the FCC Order issued Oct. 17.
