Here (http://www.durhamtry.org/GOOD-NEIGHBOR) is a streamlined version of the presentation Wanda Boone, Founder of Durham’s Together for Resilient Youth made to at the INC delegates meeting on December 9th.

Summary: If you are concerned about a convenience store that is selling to underage drinkers or otherwise violating the law OR is allowing illegal activities to occur on site whether by members of the public or by store employees, please:

(a)  Report the matter to the police;
(b) Contact Wanda at Wanda.DurhamTRY at gmail.com or 919-491-7811; and
(c) Allow North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control and the police to react and build a record and give Wanda and the PACs an opportunity to intervene and trigger a quasi judicial process with City Council if necessary.

A rough outline of the materials:

Part 1: Background on TRY, its description of the challenges and the paradigm though which TRY addresses those challenges; and
Part 2: The permitting process, including flow charts, and additional contacts.

With gratitude to Wanda and TRY for the presentation and for what they are doing in Durham,

Happy New Year (somewhat belatedly),
Philip Azar
President, InterNeighborhood Council of Durham
