Durham Hosts Get Your Grass Off Gas June 27
Discounts Given to Purchase Electric Yard Equipment

DURHAM, N.C. - With mowing season underway, residents can now trade in their gas-guzzling mowers and other yard equipment and take advantage of online discounts on cleaner and greener electric versions.

The 5th Annual "Get Your Grass Off Gas" event will be held in the Lakewood Shopping Center parking lot, 2000 Chapel Hill Rd., on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be held rain or shine.

Hosted by the Durham City/County Sustainability Office<http://www.GreenerDurham.net> and sponsored by Black and Decker<http://www.blackanddecker.com/>, this year's event provides residents the opportunity to drop off their gas-powered yard equipment in exchange for a special online code to purchase discounted electric yard equipment, which will then be delivered straight to their doorstep.

All gas-powered yard equipment brought to the event must be responsibly drained of fluids. Used motor oil can be dropped off at the City of Durham's Waste Disposal Center, Convenience Center, Compost/Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Facility<http://durhamnc.gov/ich/op/swmd/Pages/wr_transfer.aspx>, located at 2115 E. Club Blvd. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
