Work Begins on Infrastructure in Two Failed and Struggling Developments

Work is now underway to complete street and stormwater infrastructure left unfinished by developers of the Stone Hill Estates and Ravenstone subdivisions. In order to complete the infrastructure, the City Council approved a cost-sharing plan between the City and residents.



Efforts to Address Potential Environmental Contamination at New Police Headquarters Property Moves Forward
Work to address potential environmental contamination of the new Police Headquarters property is moving forward. While the previous property owners are responsible for cleanup costs, the City will spend $123,000 on preparing an application to the state's Brownfields Program to help with the remediation effort.


Controlled Residential Parking Area Ordinance Undergoes Changes
Durham's controlled parking ordinance in residential areas is undergoing changes. The revisions were needed because of new and expanding development in the Durham Central Park area.

New Ordinance Allows for Charging Higher Fees for Construction Vehicles and Dumpsters
A new ordinance now allows the City to charge a higher rate for construction vehicles and dumpsters that take up valuable on-street parking in downtown and the Ninth Street area.
