I just got home from a community meeting at McDougald Terrace (low-income housing at 55 and Lawson street, across from NCCU), and one of the board members asked if I was with a church and, if so, if I could look into getting coats, gloves, hats, boots, etc. donated for the kids who live in that community. It is going to be cold winter, she explained, and most of these kids will not have adequate clothing.
If any of you have any of these items in good used condition, please deliver them to the front office at McDougald Terrace or put them in the box at the end of my driveway at 301 Spring Garden Drive (the one with the kid-painted van in the driveway).
if your church or your workplace can help, please set up a donation box at these places and let me know when I can pick them up and deliver them to McD Terrace.
If you have any other ideas, I’m all ears.
This seems like a very easy way to make a big difference in these kids’ immediate lives.
Adult sizes are also needed, as many teenagers wear adult sizes, and any left over will definitely be used by adults living in McDougald Terrace as well.
