[Durham INC] Elimination round for city council candidates/basic voter info re-post

Noticing folks may be unaware of some details about upcoming Durham Local
primary & election season --- 

 

been asked to / just sharing some basic how-to stuff here (which certainly
has been circulated variously elsewhere). 

 

Feel free to ignore if you're already aware, or share if you think others
would benefit! 

 

Apologies for any typos or out of date information - just trying to help.
Post corrections if you wish.

This Fall Sept/Oct/Nov 2015: 

 

Mayor and City Council At-large (3 seats) elections. (All nonaffiliated):
Three candidates for Mayor. NINE for Council - A primary cuts this to SIX
for the general election. 

 

If you support someone for council, you may want to vote in the Primary to
help them get through to the final/general vote. (You can vote for UP TO 3
each in primary & general). 

 

Primary election is Oct 6, General is Nov. 3rd. Early voting is available
for ten days, up through the Saturday before each election day. (See below
link/contact for voter info)

 

Candidates:

William Bell

Tammy Lightfoot

James Lyons

 

for City Council:

 

Phillip Azar

Sandra Davis

Ricky Hart

Jillian Johnson

Charles Reece

Most if not all of the above have websites or facebook pages or other
internet information reachable by searching on their names. 

 

A debate AFTER the primary narrowing the council field will take place: 

 

City Hall Chambers on Oct. 14th, 2015 and will be on DTN, live. 

Closed caption will be paid for by the Chamber of Commerce.

Doors will open at 6:30 PM

Candidates introduced and rules explained at 6:45 PM.  Forum begins at 7 PM
over at 9 PM

DeWarren K. Langley will be moderator.

DeWarren is the Chair of the Citizens' Advisory Committee, Vice Chair
Civilian Police Review Board, Vice Chair Juvenile Crime Prevention Council,
past co-facilitator PAC-3 and other civic organizations
