Durham Police Department Leaders and Other Community Partners Visit Boston as Part of Effort to Reduce Violent Crime
The Durham Police Department and its partners are implementing many of the U.S. Department of Justice recommendations<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/7461> to reduce violent crime. One of the first ways was through a trip to Boston to find out how that city's police department, community and faith leaders are working together to address similar problems.

First Quarter Financial Report Projects All Departments Will End the Year Within Budget
The City's first quarter financial report<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cws20151207/10798_MEMO_MEMO_380423_668405.PDF> shows that all departments are projected to end the year within budget. Property tax collections are currently down by 4.1 percent from the same period last year. A better picture of property tax revenues will be available after the payment deadline in early January.

Durham Receives National Budget Award for 27th Consecutive Year
The City has received another award<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/7932> for the way it reports the budget to communicate to residents Strategic Plan priorities and how tax dollars are spent. The latest accolade marks the 27th consecutive year Durham has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association.


Economic Development Incentive Agreements Approved by City Council
Two economic development incentive agreements have been approved by the City Council because they're expected to bring more jobs to Durham. The first one involves an expansion project by Frontier Communications of the Carolinas<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cma20151116/10781_MEMO_MEMO_DESCRIBING_AGREEMENT_380523_668064.PDF> and the other involves an expansion project by WillowTree, Inc.<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cma20151116/10784_MEMO_MEMO_DESCRIBING_AGREEMENT_380528_668072.PDF>
