Stormwater Drainage Pipe Replacement Project Extended Along Minerva Avenue
Minerva Ave. Partial Closure Now in Effect Until Dec. 18; Portion of Buchanan Blvd. Closed Dec. 8-10

DURHAM, N.C. - A portion of Minerva Avenue between Buchanan Boulevard and Watts Street will remain closed longer than anticipated to replace a stormwater drainage pipe in the City right-of-way.

Construction began in late October and was supposed to be finished by Thanksgiving, but due to rainy weather and unfavorable site conditions throughout November, the project has been extended until December 18. As a result, the northern side of Minerva Avenue will be partially blocked for the duration of the project. From December 8-10, Buchanan Boulevard at the intersection of Minerva Avenue will be temporarily closed, and the contractor for the City's Public Works Department Stormwater and GIS Services Division<http://durhamnc.gov/692/Stormwater-GIS-Services> will provide a detour and signage for motorists and pedestrians.

The estimated cost for the project is $120,000 and will be paid for with funds from the Stormwater Capital Improvement Program. For more information, visit the project Web page<http://durhamnc.gov/611/2013-Routine-Ditching-Pipe-Repl-SD-2013->, or contact Engineering Inspector Albert Estok with the Stormwater and GIS Services Division in the City's Public Works Department at (919) 560-4326, ext. 30236 or by email<mailto:Albert.Estok at durhamnc.gov>.
