Google Fiber Moves Forward with Network Equipment Huts
Google's efforts to install and maintain a fiber optic network within the city limits are moving forward. Google Fiber is building network equipment huts on various sites owned by the City<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cma20160307/10961_MEMO_GOOGLE_HUT_LICENSE_AGREEM_384107_679420.PDF>. Each hut will serve approximately 20,000 households.

Police Department Offering Neighborhood & Community Watch Workshop
The Durham Police Department is inviting anyone who wants to learn more about how to keep their neighborhood safe to its annual Neighborhood & Community Watch Workshop<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8964>. The workshop is Saturday, April 16 at the Carolina Theatre. Participation is limited to the first 150 people who register by April 8.


Holton Career & Resource Center Offers Free Programs and Classes
The Holton Career and Resource Center is now offering its programs and classes for free. As part of a pilot initiative<http://durhamnc.gov/documentcenter/view/8835>, all youth, teen, mature adult, family and fitness programs are available at no cost to city residents.

City Continues Support of Falls Lake Nutrient Management Strategy Review
The City is continuing to support a re-examination of the Falls Lake Nutrient Management Strategy<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cma20160307/10949_MEMO_UNRBA_FY2017_FUNDING_384024_678950.PDF> because the strategy was developed based on a period of time featuring two significant droughts, and the State's estimates on how much algae was growing were based on a climatic extreme.
