City of Durham Announces Downtown BID Renewal Meeting
Downtown Residents & Property Owners Invited to Provide Input on Current & Future Needs

What:              Public Input Sought for Downtown Durham Business Improvement District (BID) Renewal Recommendation

Fast Facts:
*         The City of Durham is seeking input from residents and property owners in the Downtown Durham Business Improvement District (BID) regarding the current and future needs of this district.

*         The City's Office of Economic and Workforce Development plans to bring a BID renewal recommendation to City Council for consideration during a formal public hearing in late fiscal year 2016. This public meeting next week is being held in advance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) that will be issued next month for BID oversight so that public input can be evaluated and included into the RFP.


*         Enhanced municipal services currently provided by the BID include: clean and safe services, economic development, marketing, and event management. These services are funded through a tax rate appropriation of 7 cents per $100 assessed value on the property within the boundaries of the BID.
