Durham Begins Solid Waste Collection Summer Schedule
One-Hour Earlier Collection Beginning June 6 through October 3
DURHAM, N.C. - To help employees who work outside all day avoid the risk of heat-related illness and injury, the City of Durham's Solid Waste Management Department<http://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will begin collecting solid waste, yard waste, recycling, and bulky items earlier each day this summer.
Beginning Monday, June 6 through Monday, October 3, the department is asking residents to place their carts and bulky items on the curb the night before their normal pick-up day since work crews will start collections at 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.
Solid waste collectors will make every effort to complete their regular routes each day. However, during times of extreme temperatures, it may not be possible. If a pick-up is missed on a regular collection day, residents should leave their carts at the curb and contact Durham One Call<http://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call> at (919) 560-1200 to report the missed pick-up.
