City Council Adopts $404.9 Million 2016-2017 Budget
The City's budget for the next fiscal year is now in place. The City Council approved the $404.9 million spending plan<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cm20160620/11167_MEMO_FY2016-17_BUDGET_MATTERS_391960_701964.PDF> during its June 20 meeting. The budget includes a tax rate increase that puts the rate at 56.07 cents per $100 of assessed value. Find out what the tax increase will help to fund.

Durham to Continue Partnership With GoTransit Regional Information Center
Durham will continue its partnership with the GoTransit Regional Information Center. The City Council approved a two-year agreement<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cm20160620/11186_MEMO_CALL_CENTER_AGREEMENT_390108_698781.PDF> with Cary, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and GoTriangle in support of the information center, which is a cooperative effort that allows anyone to make one call for information on public transportation and ridesharing services throughout the Triangle.

Duke Belt Line Trail Master Plan to be Developed
The Duke Belt Line Trail is one step closer to becoming a reality. The City will spend $297,000 for the development of the trail's master plan<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cm20160620/11184_MEMO_CONTRACT_WITH_STEWART_ENG_390097_700256.PDF>. The 2.2 mile bicycle and pedestrian trail will be built on the location of a rail corridor that is no longer in use and will serve as a connection between downtown and neighborhoods to the north and east.

Tire Recycling Drive July 9
A tire recycling drive will be held on Saturday, July 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center<http://durhamnc.gov/878/Waste-Disposal-Recycling-Center>. During the event, residents can drop off unlimited tires, including those with rims, for free. Keep Durham Beautiful and various City and County departments are co-hosting the event.
