Durham Central Park New Pedestrian Walkway to be Constructed
Durham Central Park is getting a new pedestrian walkway<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011337%20-%20MEMO%20-%20EASEMENT%20REIMBURSEMENT%20AGREEMENT%20WIT.pdf?meetingId=136&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1518&publishId=6380&isSection=false> throughout the park. Construction of the walkway, known as the Great Loop, is how the developer of the Liberty Warehouse apartments will fulfill its obligation to provide pedestrian access connecting Rigsbee and Foster streets. Significant Improvement Project Moves Forward for City's Water Treatment Plants

September is National Preparedness Month, and this year's theme is "Don't wait, communicate. Make your emergency plan today." Ready.gov<http://www.ready.gov> has resources that tell families how to make a family emergency communication plan and how to plan with their neighbors. It also shows what individual steps people can take to prepare themselves for a disaster.
City to Hire Event Coordinator to Produce & Manage Holiday Parade
Plans are well underway for the return of the City's annual holiday parade. The event is coming back this year for the first time since 2009. The big event will be held on December 10.
