Durham’s 2017 Water Quality Report Now Available
Major Facilities Upgrades, 100-Percent Compliance Among Report Highlights

DURHAM, N.C. – The City of Durham’s Williams Water Treatment Plant celebrated its 100th birthday with a major makeover, planned in part to ensure the historic plant continues to provide consistent, high-quality drinking water to customers in Durham for many decades to come. This and other achievements are highlighted in the just-released 2017 water quality report, “Refreshing Our Water Infrastructure<http://durhamnc.gov/946/Annual-Reports>.”

The report, produced by the City’s Water Management Department and required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is now available online at http://durhamnc.gov/946/Annual-Reports.

“It is incredible just how much effort goes into producing a glass of clean, safe drinking water,” said Water Management Director Don Greeley. “It takes more than 300 hard-working employees to ensure that water is safe to drink, and always available to our more than 250,000 customers. We are proud of the work we do, and we hope our customers will share that pride by reading this report and learning how we utilize this most valuable natural resource, while ensuring its protection and also planning for Durham’s future.”

Water Management is distributing the report this year as part of National Drinking Water Week (May 6-12) activities. EPA regulations allow the department to distribute this report electronically; however, customers may also request a printed copy in English or Spanish by emailing wqreport at durhamnc.gov<mailto:wqreport at durhamnc.gov> or calling (919) 560-4381.
