Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival Logo Design Contest Now Open for Submissions
January 25 Submission Deadline; Winning Submission to Receive $750

DURHAM, N.C. - This year marks two major milestones for the Bull City...it's the 150th anniversary of the City of Durham and the 50th anniversary of the Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival<https://www.dprplaymore.org/281/Bimbe-Cultural-Arts-Festival>.

To celebrate this national award-winning and family-oriented event that celebrates African and African American history, culture, arts, and traditions, the City is now seeking logo and t-shirt design proposals commemorating the festival's 50th Anniversary.

The design contest is open for submissions now through January 25, and a public voting period will take place January 29 - February 4. This contest is open to all creative people living or working in the following counties: Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Johnston, Orange, Person, and Wake.

An Artist Selection committee comprised of Durham Parks and Recreation staff and Public Art Committee representatives will select up to five submitted design concepts as finalists. Finalists will be awarded $250 each. The finalists' design concepts will then be posted on the City's website from January 29 - February 4 for the Triangle-area community to vote on their favorite design. Durham Parks and Recreation will select the design concept receiving the most votes to be used for this year's milestone event. The selected artist will be awarded an additional $500.

All submissions must be in digital format and include a design narrative, logo concept design, and t-shirt concept design mockup. Designs should commemorate this family-orientated festival and celebrate African and African-American culture, arts, and traditions. For full contest details and to access the submission portal, visit https://durhamnc.gov/2984/Durham-Calls-for-Artists.
