Heard at January 8 Planning Commission or Jan 3 (moved from December) meeting:

  *   3920 South Alston from commercial to industrial -- it is a bite out of a big commercial block connected to industrial on the other side of Alston, between Alston and Rt 55 just north of Carpenter-Fletcher, also a comprehensive plan map change
  *   1228 Carroll Street from single-family residential to multi-family with development plan, just outside the Morehead Hill Historic District -- this is the re-development of the Army Reserve Center
  *   Ellis Road Phase III -- from light industrial and rural residential to planned development residential -- around 3714 Angier -- also a comprehensive plan map change
  *   Davis Park West -- from commercial to mixed use with development plan, west of Davis at Merrion
  *   Kings Daughters Inn -- to make the whole property multifamily

  *   Panther Creek Text Amendment -- fiddling the development plan
  *   Hale Street Duplex -- To allow duplexes at 1020 Hale Street

January 22 Board of Adjustment (some moved from December)

  *   A minor special use permit to build in the floodway fringe at 4343 Garrett Road
  *   A minor special use permit to let a non-conforming structure grow more than 10% at 1121 Glendale
  *   A minor special use permit to let a non-conforming structure grow more than 10% at 127 Barnhill
  *   A minor special use permit to expand the Durham Nativity School (it's in a residential area)
  *   A minor special use permit for a rooming house in a residential district at 2104 Riddle Road
  *   A variance to add accessory use in a non-conforming accessory unit

  *   A set of variances at 600 and 608 S. Duke (between freeway and Yancey) -- on required frontage types on Duke St, required forecourt placement and fence on other parts of Duke St frontage, and access to the forecourt from each of the individual unit
  *   Variances to allow encroachment into the required side yard and the 10-foot no-build riparian buffer (maybe they will regret this) at 3514 Grimes Ave

Heard at December 17th City Council meeting:

  *   Ravenstone-Conover -- to city jurisdiction , 1 lot near Bookman and Bandock
  *   Carrington Woods -- smaller residential and city jurisdiction (smoothing out the line), Clayton Road near Hurley
  *   Shell Gas Station (and land along Barbee behind it) -- from a mix of office and residential to a mix of mid-sized commercial with a development plan and office
  *   Westpoint at 751 (4th change) -- just a text change to the commercial area where the Aldi is

  *   Weaving Water -- Rivermont Road, from residential suburban to Planned Development Residential
  *   ROMF (an operations center for light rail) -- ease side of Farrington Road, changing both land-use and zoning, from commercial to industrial

For the December 11 Planning Commission:

  *   Kings Daughters Inn -- to make the whole property multifamily

  *   Nov 13 -- proposal to change 44 acres at Ellis and So-Hi from low density residential to low-medium density PDR

>From Oct 23 Board of Adjustment:

  *   Minor special use for an alternative street design at 425 S Roxboro (mt. Vernon Place?) and a variance to the requirement that residential units be more than 30 inches above the street grade
  *   Minor special ise to allow access to an outdoor recreation use adjacent to a residential area to get from Hillsboro to a weird lot going back to I85 west of Orangewood Drive
  *   A minor special use to allow parking within 100-year flood hazard area (Industrial zoning) at Mist Lake Drive off E. Club and a variance to grade into the 50-foot buffer on I-85 there

Neighborhood Information meetings:

  *   CASA for the 5.47 acres of the former Army Reserve Center on Carroll, to allow multi-family housing (they are proposing garden apartments, Sept 24 (re-scheduled due to hurricane)
  *   About 12 acres in the triangle among US 70, Lynn Rd, and Pleasant Dr. (about 1/2 the area), so allow mid-sized commercial instead of apartments, Sept. 25
  *   Over 100 acres on Highway 70, between Leesville and Sherron, from industrial to a PDR, Oct 4


At September 11 Planning Commission:

  *   Aug 15 -- 301 Atkins Heights Blve, now rural, to single family housing in a conservation subdivision
  *   Aug 7 -- 18.2 acres north and west of NC 98 and Sherron Rd, changing land use map and zoning to allow multi-family development, from a mix of rural (mostly) and low-scale commercial (a couple parcels along roads)

August 13 County Commissioners looked at:

  *   Nov 6 -- the Pinecrest proposal in Forest Hills that we have been hearing about

  *   Nove 28 -- 100 acres to planned residential (includes annexation), it looks like south of Glover Road from Rt 147 to Rigsbee but it has address of 3714 Angier
