Central Park Waterline Replacement Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

April 25, 2019

The City appreciates your ongoing patience with the work along the busy corridors associated with the Central Park Waterline Replacement Project.  Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/1251/Durham-Central-Park-Waterline-Replacement.

Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:


  *   Week of 4/29:
     *   North Street will be reduced to one lane, southbound, between Corporation Street and Broadway Street.
     *   Madison Avenue will be closed between Corporation Street and Northwood Circle.
     *   Geer Street will be reduced to one lane between Washington Street and Foster Street.
     *   Washington Street between Geer Street and West Corporation Street will be closed.
     *   West Corporation Street will be reduced to one lane, westbound, between Morris Street and Liggett Street.
     *   Corporation Street between Rigsbee and Mangum and Broadway Street between Rigsbee and Mangum may be closed temporarily for repaving as equipment becomes available.


  *   Week of 5/6:
     *   Madison Avenue will be closed between Corporation Street and Northwood Circle.
     *   Geer Street will be reduced to one lane between Washington Street and Foster Street.
     *   Washington Street between Trinity Avenue and West Corporation Street will be temporarily reduced to one lane.

Week of April 29, 2019:


  *   North Street will be reduced to one lane as water line work continues.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.

  *   Madison Avenue will be closed as water line work begins.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.

     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.

  *   Washington Street between West Corporation Street and Geer Street will be closed as water line work continues.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.

  *   West Corporation Street between Morris Street and Liggett Street will be reduced to one lane as sewer work continues.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.

Saturday - Sunday May 4-5, 2019:

     *   No work is scheduled for this weekend.

Week of May 6, 2019:


  *   Madison Avenue will be closed as water line work continues.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
