Durham Hosts North Duke Street Proposed Sidewalk Facilities Meeting
May 28 Drop-In Style Meeting to Collect Resident Input on Design Plans

DURHAM, N.C. - If you live, work, or travel along North Duke Street in Durham, you’ll want to mark your calendar for a meeting later this month to discuss pedestrian designs for this roadway.

The City of Durham Public Works Department is now preparing designs for pedestrian facilities along North Duke Street from West Murray Avenue to North Roxboro Street<https://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/20217/SW-50D-North-Duke-Vicinity-Map>, and City staff wants to share their work and receive community input.

The drop-in style meeting is set for Tuesday, May 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Glendale Heights United Methodist Church, which is located at 908 Leon St. Residents will be able to review the preliminary design, ask questions of City staff and consultants, and provide input before the department completes the design work. The goal of the project is to improve pedestrian accommodations with proposed improvements include sidewalk, curb ramps, pedestrian crossings, and associated pavement markings.

For residents who cannot attend this meeting, maps and comment forms to collect feedback will be available after the meeting date on the project website.<https://durhamnc.gov/3309/Design-Services-for-North-Duke-Street-SW> Resident feedback is requested by Tuesday, June 11.
