[Durham INC] FW: [WHHNA Board] neighborhood streets

Well I can say without reservation that streets in OWD are TERRIBLE. Oakland has not been resurfaced in the 2 decades I’ve lived here. Hale street is impassable. There is a pothole the size of a crater on Carolina near Englewood. Ditto on Oakland just south of Englewood. Lawndale is a washboard. Pavement is literally crumbling on nearly every street. And yet my property taxes have gone up 130%. And are heading up again. Yeah-a paving program would be welcome.

In today's Bull City Wrap (from the list serve) there was information about the condition of roads in Durham. Let's just say that by their own assessment the city has a lot of work to do. A map of the streets and their condition can be found at https://webgis.durhamnc.gov/portal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=4fe721e53bf6459c974bd16582ab18d8

Here is other information: * If you've been wondering how the condition of the pavement in your neighborhood ranks compared to other city streets, you can now find out online<https://durhamnc.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1906>.

* A significant pavement preservation project<https://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2013226%20-%20MEMO%20-%20AGENDA%20MEMO%2C%20ST-298%20-%206_3_2019.pdf?meetingId=313&documentType=Agenda&itemId=11500&publishId=53472&isSection=false> is about to get underway at various locations throughout Durham. Find out why this type of work can only be done at certain times of the year.

* Durham is continuing to build a paving program<https://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2013227%20-%20MEMO%20-%20AGENDA%20MEMO%2C%20ST-290C%20-%206_3_2019.pdf?meetingId=313&documentType=Agenda&itemId=11505&publishId=53476&isSection=false> that is balanced between the preservation of roads that are currently in good condition and repaving those that are beginning to fail.
