Bill that aims to ‘preserve’ billboard industry in NC goes too far, some say<https://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/article233031597.html> (N&O story)

This measure would allow cutting of the public's trees to increase visibility of signs, and relocation of signs to locations not currently permitted by local government ordinances. The bill may allow signs to be digitized (also, to be 50 feet taller), also overriding local ordinances. All in the name of shoring up an increasingly obsolete industry.

The bill now goes back to the House for a concurrence vote.
