Compromised Stormwater Pipe Under the Roadway;
Roadway Section Closed to Through Traffic Until Repair Completed

DURHAM, N.C. - If you live or travel along Arnette Avenue in Durham, you'll want to make note of this upcoming construction project.

The City of Durham Public Works Department will soon begin construction to replace a section of Arnette Avenue between Yancey Street and Parker Street<http://maps2.roktech.net/durhamnc_gomaps4/?LayerID=89&visLayers=46,89,27,28,29,30,118,70,48,50,75,78&FeatureID=&X1=-78.91427834811167&Y1=35.99353196225941&Level=19> due to a compromised stormwater system within the right-of-way.

Beginning on Wednesday, August 7, Arnette Avenue between Yancey Street and Parker Street will be closed to through traffic and will remain closed until the repair work is complete. This area will be open to local traffic only, and on-street parking will not be available during this timeframe.

Construction is expected to take between three-to-four weeks depending on weather conditions. The cost to repair the pipe and roadway is estimated at $190,000, and will be paid for through Stormwater Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funds.
