The comments do help. When the rules go the rules review commission, public objections there also help

This is the first time I've sent comments to a state agency about their interpretation of a law. Is this approach likely to yield results? Seems more of a political rather than a bureaucratic tactic. Would it help to have our elected representatives, including the Governor, put pressure on them to interpret the legislation differently? Also, do we expect someone to sue and who would have the resources to do that?

The NC DOT is proposing a rule change that guts municipalities ability to control billboards. The comment period closes tomorrow.

If you want to add your name to the Sierra Club petition (easy, but less effective than writing your own comments): https://act.sierraclub.org/actions/NorthCarolina?actionId=AR0248155 <https://act.sierraclub.org/actions/NorthCarolina?actionId=AR0248155&id=70131000001iOuIAAU> &id=70131000001iOuIAAU

If you want to send in your own comments (more work, more effective): Please send comments to NCDOT; suggested comments are below. Comments should be sent to Hannah B. Jernigan at <mailto:Rulemaking at ncdot.gov> Rulemaking at ncdot.gov Comments must be sent by March 5, 2020.
