Public Input Sought for Woodcroft Parkway Extension Project
Virtual Open House with Online Survey<https://tinyurl.com/woodcroftparkway> Now Available Until July 5

DURHAM, N.C. - Are you tired of traffic congestion on Woodcroft Parkway around the intersection of Hope Valley Road and Garrett Road? Do you want better connection between Jordan High School and the surrounding neighborhoods? If the answers are "yes," you're now invited to give your input into plans for the Woodcroft Parkway Extension Project.

The City of Durham Transportation Department has just launched a virtual public open house<https://tinyurl.com/woodcroftparkway> for the project to collect input from now until July 5 on the proposed designs. Residents are invited to view the project website to learn more and provide their feedback on potential design concepts for the new road through a brief online survey or via mailed comments.

Roadway features being considered for the extension of Woodcroft Parkway could include:

* Two travel lanes (one in each direction) divided by either a 17.5- or 23-foot median.

* Landscaping is being considered in the median and on the outside of the proposed roadway.

* A 5-foot sidewalk on the north side.

*         A 10-foot multi-use path on the south side.

* A sidewalk along the east side of Garrett Road and the west side of Hope Valley Road.

Two design concepts, A and B, are now available for review and comment. Both concepts include two travel lanes with a landscaped median, a sidewalk, and a multi-use path. A sidewalk would also be added along Garrett Road to extend the existing sidewalk north of the new intersection with Woodcroft Parkway to King Charles Road, and along the west side of Hope Valley Road.

Once completed, the project will extend Woodcroft Parkway from Hope Valley Road to Garrett Road, with the goals of reducing traffic congestion around the intersection of Hope Valley Road and Garrett Road, and providing a safe and convenient multi-modal connection between Jordan High School and the surrounding neighborhoods.

For more information and to take the online survey before the July 5 deadline, visit the virtual public open house website<https://tinyurl.com/woodcroftparkway>, or contact Project Manager Brian Taylor with the City's Transportation Department at brian.taylor at durhamnc.gov<mailto:brian.taylor at durhamnc.gov> or (919) 560-4366, ext. 36423.
