Move Durham Transportation Study Seeks Feedback on Final Draft Plan
Public Comment Period Ends July 24

DURHAM, N.C. – If you live or travel in and around downtown and the central area of the Bull City, the City of Durham Transportation Department wants your feedback on the final draft plan for the Move Durham Transportation Study<http://www.MoveDurham.org>.

The Move Durham Transportation Study, which began in October 2018, is a study to develop a clear vision for the future of transportation and mobility in the central Durham area. To date, the study has included extensive public outreach and data gathering to understand how people move to and through the central part of the city. The vision and values identified during the initial outreach process guided the development of design alternatives for nine corridors.

In summer 2019, another round of engagement collected feedback on each alternative proposed for the nine corridors in the study through community events, neighborhood meetings, intercept surveys, and an online survey. More than 2,500 surveys were received on the nine corridors, and the results were used to develop the policy and infrastructure recommendations in the final draft plan that is now ready for review.

For the final stage of this study, Transportation staff is seeking feedback on the recommendations of the final draft plan to ensure it reflects the vision residents and travelers have for transportation in central Durham. The project website, www.MoveDurham.org<http://www.MoveDurham.org>, has multiple ways people can get involved and learn more about the project, such as:

· Watch a recorded presentation about the final draft report.

· Review and comment on the final draft report through an interactive document. The Executive Summary is available in English and Spanish.

· Submit questions to the project team that they will answer on the website and at upcoming virtual meetings in July. Questions can be submitted through social media to @movesafedurham<https://twitter.com/movesafedurham> using #movedurham, or through a short comment form available on the website<http://www.movedurham.org/>.

· Participate in upcoming virtual meetings on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and on July 14 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Spanish translation will be available upon request.

· Invite project staff to virtual community meetings to hear a short presentation and discuss the final draft plan. Presentation requests can be sent by email<mailto:movedurham at altaplanning.com>.

· Spread the word. This is the community’s plan, and these are the community’s priorities. Help project staff reach as many people as possible by sharing the project website and encouraging friends, family, and neighbors to get involved.

The public comment period for the final draft plan closes on Friday, July 24. The project is jointly funded by the City of Durham, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
