Hi Pat,

The NCDOT did recently approve some rules changes having to do with the billboard rules. Good news - the over 400 comments they received for local control and against taking away local control over billboards make an impact and DOT didn't make the harmful rule changes that were being considered. So we are seemingly in the clear until the next effort by the billboard industry!

Per Session Law 2020-97, which was ratified by the General Assembly on September 3, 2020 and signed by Governor Cooper on September 4, 2020, the NC Division of Motor Vehicles has been authorized to extend emergency rule 19A NCAC 03B .0201 eliminating the need for a temporary rule.
