Durham Mayor to Award Dr. Mandy Cohen Key to the City

Virtual Ceremony to be Livestreamed January 19



DURHAM, N.C. - During a virtual ceremony later this evening, City of Durham Mayor Steve Schewel will acknowledge Dr. Mandy Cohen<https://www.ncdhhs.gov/about/leadership/dr-mandy-k-cohen-md-mph>, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, for her extraordinary service to the Bull City and the state during the global COVID-19 pandemic.



As part of his proclamation in recognition of her public service, he will also award a Key to the City as well as proclaim January 19, 2021 "Secretary Mandy Cohen Day" in Durham.


This ceremony will take place during the virtual City Council meeting<https://durhamnc.gov/1345/Watch-or-Comment-at-Meetings-Work-Sessio> on Tuesday, January 19 beginning at 7 p.m. and Durham residents are encouraged to watch.

This meeting will be livestreamed on the City's YouTube<https://www.youtube.com/CityofDurhamNC>, Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/CityofDurhamNC>, and Twitter<https://twitter.com/CityofDurhamNC> pages as well as on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV through the free Boxcast app.

The meeting will also be televised live on Spectrum channel 8, Google Fiber channel 8, Frontier channel 70, and AT&T U-verse channel 99.


Past recipients of a Key to the City of Durham include Aretha Franklin, Grant Hill, and André Leon Talley.
