Durham Begins Construction to Replace Odyssey Drive Culvert
Roadway Section to be Closed for Seven Months Beginning February 1

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Public Works Department will soon begin a construction project to replace an aging stormwater culvert within the Odyssey Drive<https://bit.ly/2WNgGyA> right-of-way.

Due to this upcoming construction, Odyssey Drive between N.C. Highway 55 and Penrith Drive will be closed to through traffic beginning February 1, 2021, and will remain closed for approximately seven months until the construction of the culvert and the roadway replacement are complete. The area will remain open to local traffic only, and a signed detour will be in place for through traffic.

The department's contractor is currently working with private utility providers to relocate buried communication lines within the path of the project before construction begins early next month. The cost to reconstruct the culvert and roadway is estimated at $687,697 and will be paid for through stormwater Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funds.

For more information about this repair project, visit the project webpage<https://durhamnc.gov/3980/2020-Odyssey-Dr-Culvert-Replacement-SD-2> or contact Project Manager Antwon Williams with the City's Public Works Department at (919) 560-4326, ext. 30254 or by email<mailto:antwon.williams at DurhamNC.gov>.
