Durham, N.C. – Thanks to Zoom, the Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents who are also social distancing important information on our programs and services with the “In Touch with Durham County” show for February 2021<https://youtu.be/DlfBEGCi0_A>.

In this month’s episode, host Deborah Craig-Ray, General Manager of Strategic Planning and Innovation, welcomes a regular guest in Durham County Department of Social Services Director Ben Rose. We are also pleased to introduce Kweli Rashied-Henry, Durham County’s first Racial Equity Officer.

The Department of Social Services has worked tirelessly to help our must vulnerable citizens receive much needed services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rose discusses the ways in which DSS has transitioned and modified its delivery of services to help address some of the challenges the pandemic has created.

In segment two, Rashied-Henry discusses her newly created role within Durham County Government and what her initial goals are in building the racial equity program. She also discusses how this work will provide resources to employees and the community, as well as building partnerships throughout Durham.
