City of Durham to Observe Good Friday



DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham will observe the upcoming Good Friday holiday on Friday, April 2.



Most City offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency City operations, will be closed to the public and many employees who continue to telework due to COVID-19 will be unavailable. Police, fire, and rescue services for life-threatening or in-progress emergencies may be reached by calling 911. Non-emergency concerns may be directed to (919) 560-4600.

The Solid Waste Management Department<https://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will be closed on April 2. Curbside Thursday/Friday yard waste customers will receive collection on Saturday, April 3. The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<https://durhamnc.gov/898/Disposal-Facilities> will also be closed on April 2. Durham Parks and Recreation<https://www.dprplaymore.org/> (DPR) will close its administrative office and all facilities on April 2, and all recreation centers will be closed on April 4. During the COVID-19 pandemic, recreation centers and indoor pools are only accessible to pre-registered program participants, renters, and individuals with a scheduled appointment. The Park Durham Customer Service Center<https://www.parkdurham.org/> will be closed on April 2. On City-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, City-owned parking garages, and City-owned surface parking lots.



Durham One Call<https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call> will also be closed on April 2. Residents may submit a service request using the free Durham One Call smartphone app available in the Apple<https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/durham-one-call/id1201890986?mt=8> and Google Play<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accela.durham_nc&hl=en> stores, complete and submit an online service request<https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call>, or leave a message at (919) 560-1200. Durham One Call will forward all requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day.



Water main break<https://durhamnc.gov/1344/Report-Water-Main-Breaks> and sewer overflow<https://durhamnc.gov/1346/Report-Sewer-Overflows-Backups> calls for service placed after-hours, during weekends or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the department's after-hours emergency phone number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
