County to Recognize Good Friday Holiday on April 2nd

Durham, N.C. - Durham County Government will recognize the Good Friday holiday on Friday, April 2, 2021. On this day, non-essential offices for the County will be closed. All County offices will reopen and resume normal hours of operation on Monday, April 5.  Please be reminded that some offices continue to work remotely or require appointments in advance due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

Durham County General Services
County Convenience Sites
The Durham County General Services Department will close its four Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Sites on April 2. Durham County residents with a current 2020-2021 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items on April 3 at their normal hours. A reminder that the Parkwood Convenience Site is only open on the second Saturday each month.

Roadside Recycling Collection
The Durham County roadside recycling collection for the week of April 2 will not change due to the holiday.

All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 6 a.m. on the day of pickup, to avoid a missed collection. Residents who want to keep track of their recycling collection schedule should download the new "Durham County Recycles" mobile application. Residents can download the mobile app for free on Apple devices in the App Store<https://apps.apple.com/app/id1481279900> or Android devices in the Google Play Store<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.dconc.recollect.waste>.

Durham County Department of Public Health
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government Good Friday holiday schedule.

For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health's response team member on-call.

Durham County Library
All Durham County Library locations remain closed to the public due to COVID-19 safety guidelines. All library services, including Library Take-Out! service will be closed on Friday, April 2 and reopen on Monday, April 5. A reminder that Library Take-Out! service is open Tuesday-Saturday for library card holders to check out items.

Durham County Social Services
The Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will also follow the Durham County Government Good Friday holiday schedule. Residents are encouraged to call (919) 560-4600 to reach an on-call social worker to report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect. DSS will reopen and operate according to its normal hours of operation on April 5.

Durham County Sheriff
Durham County's Sheriff Office's patrol division, as always, is available 24/7. The Sheriff's Administration and Records Division will be closed on April 2 and will reopen on April 5.
