City of Durham Response to Regional Fuel Shortage

DURHAM, N.C. - In response to the current regional fuel shortage resulting from the Colonial Pipeline service interruption, City of Durham Manager Wanda Page announced today that she is directing the fueling of all City vehicles to be limited to essential activities only with priority given to public safety vehicles responding to emergency calls for service.

At this time, all curbside collections for garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulky item collections will be provided this week with no service interruptions. However, fuel supply shortages may impact all curbside collection services next week. To stay up-to-date on curbside collections and what to do with uncollected carts, residents are encouraged to monitor the department's Current Collections Status webpage<https://durhamnc.gov/2798/Solid-Waste-Collections-Status>. Collection service updates will also be shared directly to residents who have downloaded the free Durham Rollout app in the Apple<https://apps.apple.com/us/app/durham-rollout/id1431854760> and Google Play<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.durhamnc.recollect.waste&hl=en_US> stores.

GoDurham has announced it will run Sunday-level service beginning on Friday, May 14, until further notice. To find Sunday schedules, visit the GoDurham website<http://godurhamtransit.org/maps-schedules/godurham> or call 919-485-RIDE. GoDurham will continue to post any additional service alert updates to their website<https://godurhamtransit.org/>, social media channels, and be available by phone.

The City, along with Durham's other local government agencies, will continue to closely monitor this situation and is prepared to respond should additional service changes become necessary.

Any additional City service alerts will be posted to the City's website<https://durhamnc.gov/> as well as on the City's Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/CityofDurhamNC>, Twitter<https://twitter.com/CityofDurhamNC>, and Instagram<https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/> pages. Residents may also contact Durham One Call<https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call> at 919-560-1200 for additional information.
