Dear Neighbors:

Have lunch with Preservation Durham! On Thursday, October 14th at noon,
local architectural historian and home designer Sara Lachenman will talk all
things Tudor Revival in Durham. Durham has a special relationship with the
Tudor Style. It was popular nationally during the 1920s, but faded during
the Great Depression. In Durham. However, with the building of Duke's
Tudor/Gothic West campus, the Tudor style got a second wind in the 1930s and
early 1940s.

Durham has examples of Tudor houses in every historic Durham neighborhood.
There are mansions and humble cottages. In an hour or so, Sara will tell us
about this important part of our shared architectural history. Make
yourself a sandwich and sign in on Thursday. Sara's talk is free.

Sara's talk will be virtual. Register now on the Preservation Durham

Pinecrest, the last Duke family mansion in Forest Hills, will be open to the
public for the first time in its nearly 100 year history. The house was
originally designed for James O. Cobb, the developer of Forest Hills. It
soon became the home of Ben Duke's daughter, Mary Duke Biddle. The property
is slated for redevelopment. Come see the house in its "before" condition.
