* Tuesday's open forum will be structured to listen to community about their experiences of race, racism and/or discrimination; encourage participants to become open to one another's perspectives and experiences; and to discover from the community how to facilitate sustainable and transformative change.

* Event organizers hope this kick-off event will begin the process to lead to sustainable and transformative actions to heal the Durham community of the ills of racism and its lingering adverse impacts.

* Durham youth are strongly encouraged to participate to have their voices heard as the community's current and future leaders.

* Established by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the National Day of Racial Healing is an opportunity for individuals, communities, and organizations to acknowledge shared humanity, restore trust in each other, build authentic relationships, and inspire collective action on how to heal from the effects of racism.
